Tips for Spring Cleaning your Home

Spring is finally here and while it is lovely to see flowers blooming and birds back in the trees, it also may mean some major cleaning. Here are a few cleaning tips so you can love how you live:

For Fresh Looking Floors:
To clean grout, cover the area with baking soda. Spray vinegar on the baking soda and let solution bubble. After letting it sit for a bit use a brush to scrub this now muddy solution off. Wipe away the solution with a towel, and then vacuum the excess baking soda.

Spruce Up Tired Leather
Use Norwax Leather Shine – a most natural product with pure bees wax as one of the key ingredients. It penetrates the leather and restores natural oils. Suitable for smooth leathers only.

Make Stainless Steel Shine
Spray your stainless steel sink with a generous amount of plain white vinegar. Pour baking soda over the vinegar. Allow standing 10 minutes. Boil hot water, and use to rinse sink. Spray with more vinegar, scrubbing residue away. Next step rinse and spray with Goo Gone. Wipe clean. Place a hefty blob of olive oil on a paper towel and buff to a shine.

Whiten Up Pillows
All pillows should be washed twice a year to keep sanitized and remove yellow. Treat your pillow to a hot wash in the washing machine.
Add the following:
1 cup laundry detergent
1 cup dishwasher detergent
1 cup bleach
1/2 cup borax

If you see mold…
Put vinegar in a bottle and saturate the moldy area. Leave on overnight and spray again the next day and wipe clean with a paper towel. Spray regularly with vinegar to prevent future growth. Prime areas of mold are basements and under sinks.
