When deciding which stones to work with, you can try out different approaches that might make things easier. Here are a few different ones to consider:

• Countertops. Since your countertop is the main component of your kitchen, you might want to use a stone countertop.  This should be a durable stone such as granite.  There are many varieties to choose from. The countertop will be installed before the backsplash.
• Backsplash. Don’t be afraid to consider a new color or different material.  Many lovely kitchen backsplashes are made of tile or mosaics with feature relief ceramics with designs which appeal to the person who does the family’s cooking.
• Backsplashes and countertops that match. If you really want your kitchen to have all the same material using the same stone or ceramic this is a lovely way to accomplish that goal.
