from layout through installation
A Remodel Without A Design Direction Is Just Expensive Construction. We Do Not Work That Way.
Home Life provides home remodeling services in Sullivan’s Island with design leadership from the first structural decision through to the final installation. Every choice is made within one direction that holds the whole home together.

Structural Change Led By Design, Not The Other Way Around
Cookie-cutter homes are nice homes to live in, but that’s just it. They’re nice and not anything else. If you want to make your home reflect the true you, remodeling is the way to go. And what better way to have it done than with Home Life at the helm of your project.
Home Life brings design leadership to every remodeling project on Sullivan’s Island. Their difference is that they bring the design direction before any structural decision. The remodel then serves that direction from the first demolished wall to the last installed detail.
Assess What The Home Needs
Review structure, circulation, material condition, and what the household actually requires from the finished space, not what a generic brief might assume.
Set The Design Direction
Define how every room should feel and function before any structural or material decision is made. The brief precedes the build.
Coordinate The Build
Keep every remodeling decision connected to the approved design direction through to completion. No deviations without a conversation first.
Design-Led Remodeling For Island Properties
Home Life provides home remodeling services in Sullivan’s Island for homeowners ready to change how their property fundamentally looks and lives. Full home remodel projects in Sullivan’s Island are shaped around a complete design brief that addresses every room in relation to every other. The finished home feels unified because it was designed that way, not assembled from independent decisions that happened to occur in the same house.
Interior remodeling in Sullivan’s Island addresses the surfaces, spatial relationships, and design coherence within the existing structure. When the footprint is sound, but the interior has never quite reflected the people living in it, interior remodeling delivers a significant, felt transformation without the full disruption of structural change.
Kitchen remodeling in Sullivan’s Island is often the most impactful scope within a broader remodel, because the kitchen is where island life is most directly experienced. The connection between inside and outside, the way the kitchen opens to the covered outdoor spaces that Sullivan’s Island homes are built around, are design decisions, not construction ones, and they require a designer at the center of the project.
A home remodeling company in Sullivan’s Island that leads with design rather than following it produces a fundamentally different result. Home Life develops the full design direction before contractor engagement. Every structural decision, material choice, and installation instruction serves a purpose established at the start. Homeowners comparing home remodeling contractors in Sullivan’s Island should look for a team where design and construction oversight sit together under one accountable direction. That is how Home Life works on every project it takes on.
The right approach depends on what the home actually needs. Some Sullivan’s Island properties require structural changes to function properly. Others can be transformed significantly through a well-designed renovation within the existing footprint.

Design Leadership On Every Home Life Remodeling Project
Rose Ann Humphrey established Home Life in 1995 in New England. Her practice spans decades of design and renovation work across Boston, Stowe, and landmark historic properties in the Northeast. She has expanded to serve clients throughout Charleston and its surrounding island communities, bringing that depth of experience to a market that demands it.
Her project credentials include landmark renovations at The Point at Saranac Lake, the Rockefeller Property and Great Camp, and The Showhouse Inn, recognized as the number one country inn in the world by Relais et Chateaux. Residential design work for American screenwriter Norman Lear reflects the same standard she brings to every Sullivan’s Island remodeling project.
On every project, the goal is the same: a home where the people inside it genuinely love how they live.
What clients say
Once again would like to thank you for all your help in finding the perfect settee for us. While we were overwhelmed with the Design Center itself, and almost walked out, you were able to listen carefully to what we wanted and navigate the maze of stores and bring us to the shop that carried just what we wanted. You respected our price concerns and guided us through the process of customizing the settee, keeping price in mind as we selected fabric and wood stain. This was our first time working with an Interior Designer and we were impressed with your knowledge and desire to find just the right piece to meet our specific space limitations.
Thanks for your assistance.
I was fortunate enough to work with Rose Ann when we bought our house. Rose Ann was incredibly responsive; she replies almost immediately to emails, phone calls, and texts. She is truly an artist and I trusted her taste completely. She got to know my family and created spaces that are not only lovely to look at, but also comfortable to live in. She seemed to instinctually understand the vague vision that I had and transfer it into something concrete and lovely. I learned so much from working with her and I could not be more delighted living in my spaces. I have received many compliments on my home and have continued to go back to Rose Ann whenever I need anything else. Rose Ann truly cultivates a relationship with her clients that is permanent and rich. I am so grateful to work with Rose Ann!
Rose Ann Humphrey of Home Life changed my home, changed my life. I have built/remodeled several homes over my lifetime. I always came at the project as “how do I impress friends and neighbors and business associates.” In other words I was creating an environment for others. Rose Ann showed me that I am at my home more than anyone and that it should reflect me as a person. I should “Love How I Live” in my environment. Not only is the interior amazing but the landscaping is so welcoming. She knows and promotes coordination with the whole team – architect, builder, landscaper ………AND SHE LISTENS NOT JUST HEARS. I highly recommend Rose Ann Humphrey and Home Life.
Your talent and ability in conceptualizing the design direction and overall intent of the property’s ownership while working closely with our architect has produced an outstanding and commendable result.
It should also be noted that your years of construction experience and knowledge of materials for specific uses, together with your ability to coordinate the various facets of your work with those of other trades and disciplines, has definitely played a great part in your work performance. Thank you for giving your all to this project.
I know that you realize how much I love both my homes, Cape Cod and Naples, Florida, that you both designed and completed. And of course you also did the exteriors of both. Although you are not a landscape architect (by profession) you well know the joy and relaxation the Cape garden (which we refer to as the Zen Garden) brings me and how you have received so many compliments on its beauty. These two experiences have brought me a real change in my values. Your slogan “love how you live” has come to life in me.
Rose Ann has not only given me beautiful home and office spaces, living and working in her creations has been delightfully transformative. I am inspired, at home, and my guests and clients tell me every time I see them how much they love visiting. I implicitly trust her sense of style and her extraordinary ability to design spaces that are perfect for me in every way. She gives me the freedom to express the feeling of what I am after, and, then, Voila! The next thing I know, I am walking into the magic. I can’t wait to work with her again.
We had incurred water damage throughout several areas of our home in Shelburne, Vermont. Rose Ann spearheaded the project which included a total renovation of our kitchen and dining area. The craftsmen she retained did an excellent job and the project came in on time. Her selection of tiles, faux painting of the cabinets, floor and wall coverings, countertops and appliances all came together to make a stunning and very usable kitchen overlooking Lake Champlain. We have recently retained Rose Ann to renovate our master bathroom.
A remodel changes the structure of a home, including its layout, footprint, and built-in systems. A renovation improves an existing structure through updated materials, finishes, cabinetry, and lighting. Home Life helps homeowners identify the right scope at the initial consultation.
