from first selection to final installation
Some Homes Do Not Need To Be Rebuilt. They Need A Design Direction That Makes Them Finally Feel Like Themselves.
Time never waits for anyone. And with time, properties can become dull. If living inside them offers no sense of love, it’s time to change that.
Home Life provides home renovation services in Kiawah Island with a design vision to lead. You deserve a property that makes you feel loved, and Home Life is the right place to start.

What Has Always Been Here, Finally Made To Feel Like Yours
Most Kiawah Island homes have great structure, the right proportions, and extraordinary lighting. What they lack is a design direction that holds everything together and makes the interior feel as deliberate as the setting it sits within.
Home Life brings that direction by identifying what the home already does well and infusing your ideas to feel more personal. When done right, it creates a home that offers as much love as you offer it.
Identify What Works
Assess the existing home honestly - what the structure supports and what the household genuinely values about it.
Define The Direction
Establish a complete design brief before selecting any material or engaging any contractor.
Renovate With Intention
Execute every update - surface, finish, lighting, and detail - within the established vision. Nothing chosen in isolation.
Custom, Whole-Home, And Full Renovation. One Design Direction.
Custom home renovation in Kiawah Island means the design is built entirely around this household, this home, and this island – not around a set of preset options or catalog sensibilities. The cabinetry profile, the stone selection, the way the palette moves from room to room: all of it is specific.
Whole-home renovation in Kiawah Island requires a design intelligence that holds the full picture together when every room is being addressed simultaneously. Each decision affects every other. Home Life maintains that whole-home view across the full renovation, ensuring materials, finishes, lighting, and spatial decisions remain coherent from the entry to the primary suite.
A full home renovation in Kiawah Island is a significant commitment, and it deserves a team that understands what is at stake. The coastal environment, the island’s private community guidelines, the material performance requirements of living this close to the water: these are not details to be discovered mid-project. They are brought to the table from day one.
House renovation in Kiawah Island projects managed by Home Life begin with a complete design direction. Every contractor instruction, material specification, and installation detail follows from that direction. That is how a renovation produces a result that feels designed rather than merely updated.
Home Life helps homeowners identify the correct scope before any decision or commitment is made. The distinction matters because renovation and remodeling involve different timelines, different budgets, and different levels of disruption to the home.

Renovation Services For Kiawah Island Homes
Interior Design Direction
A complete visual and spatial concept established before renovation begins. The brief that every subsequent decision serves.
Material And Finish Selection
Surfaces, fabrics, paint, tile, and stone chosen as a coordinated set - because they live together and should be selected that way.
Cabinetry Specification
Cabinet profiles, finishes, and interior organization planned for each room with the full direction in mind.
Lighting Coordination
Ambient, task, and decorative lighting selected within the full room direction - not purchased separately and hoped for the best.
Color And Palette Planning
A consistent color direction across walls, trim, cabinetry, and hardware that holds across the full home.
Project Coordination
Design oversight maintained through every contractor communication and installation review.
Consultation And Home Assessment
Review what the home currently offers and what the household wants from it. Identify the renovation scope and the real design opportunity.
Design Direction Development
Establish the full visual concept before any material is ordered. Material palette, cabinetry direction, color approach, and spatial priorities - set as one connected brief, not as separate decisions.
Selections And Specification
Work through every surface, finish, and fixture within the complete palette so each choice belongs to the whole interior, not just its category.
Contractor Coordination
Communicate and maintain the design direction with renovation contractors throughout the project. Questions are answered before they become problems on-site.
Installation And Walkthrough
Review the completed renovation with the client and confirm every element meets the approved design direction. Not before.
A Defined Process From First Conversation To Final Room
Every project we commit to has an established process to ensure you don’t have to worry about what comes next.
The Designer Behind Every Home Life Renovation
Rose Ann Humphrey founded Home Life in 1995 in New England. Her practice was built across Boston and Stowe before expanding to serve clients throughout Charleston and its surrounding island communities, bringing decades of design and renovation experience to a new market.
Her renovation portfolio includes landmark properties across New England – work at the Rockefeller Property and Great Camp, The Point at Saranac Lake, and The Showhouse Inn. Residential projects for clients including American screenwriter Norman Lear reflect the same standard she brings to every Kiawah Island home she works on.
Our aim is to make you love how you live, and a home renovation project is the right place to start to show your love for your property.
What clients say
Once again would like to thank you for all your help in finding the perfect settee for us. While we were overwhelmed with the Design Center itself, and almost walked out, you were able to listen carefully to what we wanted and navigate the maze of stores and bring us to the shop that carried just what we wanted. You respected our price concerns and guided us through the process of customizing the settee, keeping price in mind as we selected fabric and wood stain. This was our first time working with an Interior Designer and we were impressed with your knowledge and desire to find just the right piece to meet our specific space limitations.
Thanks for your assistance.
I was fortunate enough to work with Rose Ann when we bought our house. Rose Ann was incredibly responsive; she replies almost immediately to emails, phone calls, and texts. She is truly an artist and I trusted her taste completely. She got to know my family and created spaces that are not only lovely to look at, but also comfortable to live in. She seemed to instinctually understand the vague vision that I had and transfer it into something concrete and lovely. I learned so much from working with her and I could not be more delighted living in my spaces. I have received many compliments on my home and have continued to go back to Rose Ann whenever I need anything else. Rose Ann truly cultivates a relationship with her clients that is permanent and rich. I am so grateful to work with Rose Ann!
Rose Ann Humphrey of Home Life changed my home, changed my life. I have built/remodeled several homes over my lifetime. I always came at the project as “how do I impress friends and neighbors and business associates.” In other words I was creating an environment for others. Rose Ann showed me that I am at my home more than anyone and that it should reflect me as a person. I should “Love How I Live” in my environment. Not only is the interior amazing but the landscaping is so welcoming. She knows and promotes coordination with the whole team – architect, builder, landscaper ………AND SHE LISTENS NOT JUST HEARS. I highly recommend Rose Ann Humphrey and Home Life.
Your talent and ability in conceptualizing the design direction and overall intent of the property’s ownership while working closely with our architect has produced an outstanding and commendable result.
It should also be noted that your years of construction experience and knowledge of materials for specific uses, together with your ability to coordinate the various facets of your work with those of other trades and disciplines, has definitely played a great part in your work performance. Thank you for giving your all to this project.
I know that you realize how much I love both my homes, Cape Cod and Naples, Florida, that you both designed and completed. And of course you also did the exteriors of both. Although you are not a landscape architect (by profession) you well know the joy and relaxation the Cape garden (which we refer to as the Zen Garden) brings me and how you have received so many compliments on its beauty. These two experiences have brought me a real change in my values. Your slogan “love how you live” has come to life in me.
Rose Ann has not only given me beautiful home and office spaces, living and working in her creations has been delightfully transformative. I am inspired, at home, and my guests and clients tell me every time I see them how much they love visiting. I implicitly trust her sense of style and her extraordinary ability to design spaces that are perfect for me in every way. She gives me the freedom to express the feeling of what I am after, and, then, Voila! The next thing I know, I am walking into the magic. I can’t wait to work with her again.
We had incurred water damage throughout several areas of our home in Shelburne, Vermont. Rose Ann spearheaded the project which included a total renovation of our kitchen and dining area. The craftsmen she retained did an excellent job and the project came in on time. Her selection of tiles, faux painting of the cabinets, floor and wall coverings, countertops and appliances all came together to make a stunning and very usable kitchen overlooking Lake Champlain. We have recently retained Rose Ann to renovate our master bathroom.
A renovation improves and updates an existing structure through materials, finishes, cabinetry, lighting, and design direction. A remodel changes the structure itself - layout, footprint, and built-in systems. The distinction determines the scope, the contractors involved, and the timeline.
Yes. Whole-home renovation is one of the primary scopes Home Life takes on. The design direction is developed across the full home so every room feels connected to every other - because it was designed that way.
Home Life specifies materials with the coastal environment in mind. Fabric durability, hardware finish performance, and surface sealing are considered alongside aesthetic quality. Kiawah Island’s conditions are part of every specification conversation.
Timeline is determined by scope, material lead times, and contractor scheduling. A project-specific timeline is developed after the home has been properly reviewed.
